Why is Hi-Pro Different?
Contains NO Heavy Hulls, which are non-digestable and also contain high concentrations of dirt, molds, pesticides, and herbicides.
Contains micro-encapsulated Probiotic Cultures which nurture the digestive tract.
We use Canola Meal which provides DIM (diindolyl methane), known to enhance the body's ability to excrete everyday toxins that would build up in the body, and interfere with normal hormone biochemistry. Moreover, canola meal provides an adequate source essential fatty acids.
USP Grade Minerals and Vitamins, and Amino Acid Chelates ensure maximum absorptive qualities in Hi-Pro's supplement fortification. These ingredients ensure the greatest purity and concentration, without the toxic contaminants commonly found in feed grade minerals.
NO Agricultural Waste Ingredients that contain molds, dirt, pesticides and chemical residues, such as:
Wheat Middlings
Grain Hulls
Beet Pulp
NO Legumes, such as soy or alfalfa, that can interfere with normal thyroid function.
Low NSC "naturally" and without dilution using non-digestible ingredients. Hi-Pro is 100% nutritional.
No Added Manganese or Iron. Our minerals are not contaminated with iron or manganese.

Beat pulp is an agricultural waste product which contains sugars that are not represented on the label.
Pesticides and herbicides can cause neurological syndromes with long term exposure. They are designed to not "wash off" the crops in the field, and far too often the very parts of the crop that hold the highest concentrations of these synthetic chemicals make their way into common horse feed ingredients.
For almost 3 decades of hair analysis' on horses all over the country (testing for systemic levels of essential and toxic elements), we've concluded that horses are receiving plenty of manganese and iron from environmental sources, and do not need supplementation of these elements.

Mass feed manufactures typically add fiber with low digestibility (cheaper ingredients like soy hulls, wheat middlings and corn cobs) in order to reduce NSC (Non Structural Carbohydrates). These additives dilute the nutritional value of the feed, and in many cases you would need to feed more than the manufacturer’s maximum daily recommendation to receive the National Research Council (NRC’s†1) recommended protein intake†2+3. Unfortunately, grass hay alone cannot provide enough protein (or general nutrients) for horses. This is why it’s so important for high quality protein to be supplemented with a grass hay diet. If you have felt uneasy about your horse’s protein source(s); you can now rest assured because Hi-Pro was formulated in response to your concern.
Our vitamins and minerals are strictly USP Pharmaceutical Grade and amino acid chelates (poteinates), in order to guarantee maximum bioavailability, as well as purity. For over 30 years, Vita Royal has paved the way for nutritional research and supplementation in the horse industry. In the 1970’s, we actually pioneered the supplementing of horses with probiotics. Today, it’s become quite commonplace. Just the same, you can be sure that whatever we do, the horse industry will follow. The same biochemist who founded our company and formulated our products over three decades ago, continues to lead the company, and the industry, in research and results.
This -"clean feed"- is not just a luxury, but a necessity for horses with problems ranging from lack of performance to those with sensitivities to carbohydrates commonly found in grains today. Hi-Pro PlusTM is used as a maintenance feed for those horses that have conquered their acute symptoms, as well as for horses that have never suffered from those sensitivities and just want the best program to aid in prevention.
Also, our vitamins and minerals are added in the finishing stages and are not cooked into the feed. Cooking or heat sterilization will degrade vitamins and kill probiotics, which help in digestion. Hi-Pro is made from only the highest quality ingredients, so there is no need for cooking or heat sterilization before it reaches optimal condition for feeding. This is the most well-rounded source of high protein feed available anywhere.
Protein Requirements for Horses in Moderate Work (based on the NRC’s†1 recommendations)
Needed to Supplement Recommended Average Daily Grass Hay Intake†2

†2 15 lbs of mature grass hay, per day, provides an average of .45 lbs digestible daily protein to horses. This is the recommended daily grass/grass hay intake by Vita Royal, as well as published by the National Research Council in Nutritional Requirements of Horses Fifth Revised Edition.
†3 The NRC recommends that the complete diet of horses in moderate work contain an average
total digestible protein intake of 1.15 lbs per day
