Alternative Methods that Help and Hinder Environmental Illness
by Linsey McLean

In viewing Environmental Illness any opportunistic disease syndromes from the new perspective, it is important to understand that we are now dealing with an already multiply compromised body. In the past, medicine assumed that an infected host just became temporarily overwhelmed by infective organisms through some huge exposure, and that if the immune system could be relieved a bit by the help of antibiotics, it would rebound to maintain good health again.

This is not the case we have with newly emerging opportunistic infections like EPM, or as I have named the syndrome, E.P.D.S.(Environmental Parasitic Disease Syndrome.) Here we have an array of driving forces acting both independently and synergistically in a variety of toxic ways, to undermine a multitude of biochemical pathways in the body. In effect, we have an already sick and compromised body that can no longer maintain normal and healthy metabolism, and becomes "changed" enough internally to now fall into a new biochemical category, so to speak, mimicking another organism or environment biochemically, that IS susceptible to these "new" organisms.

So, with this background in mind, you can see why it is most important to incorporate only those modes that have a POSITIVE effect on the life force, and not a toxic one. Any alternative or otherwise common sense support that we can give will only enhance effects of this Environmental Illness/EPDS program of restoring the biochemistry of life, and normalizing basic life force, or Qi. These supportive methods include acupuncture, to move the Qi that the biochemistry of life produces. Homeopathy emergency formulas can increase the vibrational support for acute problems until and while the biochemistry is being restored, and as a non-toxic immune enhancement. Certain herbal products can also help with the acute problems while the biochemistry is being restored, and the body is healing itself, along with magnetic therapy and cold laser therapy massage, to help with inflammatory reactions involved with compromised biochemistry. Any other type of "energy work" that provides uplift to this "downed" energy individual is also beneficial. I would include emotional support as well. Animals are sensitive to this, as has been shown in the laboratory. This is a prescription for restoring health of humans, too, suffering from the combined effects of living in our world today, I collectively call "Environmental Illness Syndromes."

So you can see why a mode that uses a toxin in any way will compromise this whole program. It would ultimately bringing down the life force that we are trying to uplift and restore, even if it be one of the alternative toxins such as a toxic herb like garlic or a known toxic heavy metal like colloidal silver. These products do have a place, but it is NOT inside the body. It is safer if used as a topical for an external type of infection, where the offending organisms are localized and the toxin does not affect the internal biochemistry of the body.

Antibiotics and other antimicrobials that worked so well in the past, before we had these multiple compromising factors in the environment, are now failing to effect a true "cure," meaning that the sick individual fails to be able to maintain itself and return to prior health on its own after treatment, in an ever-increasing percentage of cases. I predict that this percentage will increase evermore, until the last of the diehard traditionalists finally realize that this is truly a different world, and that the old paradigm doesn't work anymore.

Now that you can see the world from a new perspective, I hope that you too will be able to add to this list of truly supportive measures in the restoration of health for you and your horse.
